AGENDA MAY 25-JUNE 1

Announcements:

*NO SCHOOL on May 25 - Memorial Day

*Belief Project Reading at The Center for the Arts on Thursday, May 28th at 7 p.m. BONUS OPPORTUNITY!

*Remember to return library books to the Media Center.

*Talent Show at JHHS on June 5.

*8th Grade trip to Heise Hot Springs on June 11.

*8th Grade graduation at 6:30 p.m. on June 11.

Students are working on performance and annotation of poetry. In pairs, they are collaboratively researching, analyzing, and performing a published piece. Our audience is Mrs. Hoelscher's class. Performances will incorporate techniques we have been studying in class, props, and even musical instruments! Performances will be held on Friday and the following Monday (29th and 1st).

Weekly Homework:
Memorize your poem! Spend 20 minutes outside of class working with your partner on performance techniques.

MONDAY 25th: NO SCHOOL

TUESDAY 26th:
*Choose a performance technique to focus on: emphasis, emotion and expression, intonation, gestures
Poetry Performance Work Day - memorization and annotation

WEDNESDAY 27th:
MAP Testing in Media Center

THURSDAY 28th:
*Complete annotation of piece and outline your reason for sharing your poem.

2) 2-Chunk Shaping Sheet and begin paragraph: Write and type a 2-chunk paragraph answering the question: Why is Ponyboy so upset about cutting his hair? Use specific CD's from the text. Your CD's must be DIRECT QUOTES.  Use the shaping sheet to plan your writing.
